Tea Party 2016!

Hi there!

Well that's our Marie Curie tea party over for another year, and what a day!

Its very personal to us to put on a good day, Mum always had the kettle on and loved nothing better than a cuppa and a gossip so the tea party is a very fitting tribute to remember her by and of course raise much needed funds for Marie Curie

We always worry there wont be enough cake!

But of course we are never let down by the amount of donations that our friends and family bring in.

Special mention has to go to Gaynor for her chocolate eclairs this year!

This year, we had a craft stall set up selling hand made craft items that people had donated, we had all sorts from jewellery, knitted & crochet items and everything in-between. Its a real honour to see how much is donated in from our local community to support this event.

Maureen and Pat were stars on the raffle (as usual) and thanks to Sarah & Jess who manned the teas and coffees. We simply wouldn't manage without you all!

The big needles were out and folk were trying their hand at extreme knitting!

Also this year, we did an online raffle and was delighted that Kathryn from Crafternoon Treats offered to make us a bag to raffle off. We added in an Attic 24 yarn pack plus some other prizes and managed to raise over £1200 on the Just Giving page we set up. Kathryn and her side-kick bagalonger joined us in the shop and drew the online raffle for us - thanks so much for travelling to see us!

Monies are still coming in from the Tea Party but we are hopeful to raise over £2k! Raffle tickets for the shop raffle are still on sale until the end of the month. Lots of prizes including yarn bundles worth over £70!

If you didn't manage to get along to the tea party, you can still donate to the cause here

Thanks again for all your support and don't forget to join us on our social media pages to keep up to date with our news and offers!

Love from Caroline, Julie and Sally x

Marie Curie Tea Party - this Saturday!

Well hello there, it has been some time since we have last blogged!

Since we  last wrote there has been lots going on including having the fabulous Debbie Bliss in the shop on Yarn Shop Day (that is a whole post that I need to write too!), we've picked up some awards along the way too (more on that to come!)

Anyway, the reason for writing today is that this Sat (11th June) is our annual Marie Curie tea party. We hold it each year in memory of our mum Christine and hope to raise lots of money for this great cause.

On the day, there will be tea and cakes served from 10-4 in Christine's Wool Shop on Bournville Green.

There are various raffles and craft items for sale (all of which have been made and donated and ALL monies go to Marie Curie), it is a fabulous community event & anyone who knew Mum knows its the best tribute we could do as she always had the kettle on!

This year, we have a special guest at our tea party, Kathryn from Crafternoon Treats will be joining us in the shop, Marie Curie is also close to Kathryn's heart and she has made us beautiful crochet bag in the Marie Curie colours to raffle off and raise funds, This has been stuffed with Stylecraft yarn & included in the prize is a yarn pack to make the Attic 24 cupcake blanket. 2nd prize is an exclusive sock yarn bundle and 3rd prize is a 6 month subscription to Let's Knit Magazine! Our raffle tickets are selling like hot cakes and you can join in the fun here

We are so looking forward to Saturday and hope that you can pop in and join us,

Take care, love Caroline, Julie & Sally xx

HAVE YOU SEEN ERIC....?

He's City Knits cheeky punk chick (love that safety pin in the beak Eric)!

Eric loves to spend time at our shop in Bournville, but he also likes to venture further afield.  He made a brief appearance at Bournville Crafty Bees last week and we know he's looking forward to meeting as many of his fans as possible at the forthcoming Yarn Shop Day (3rd May) and Marie Curie Teaparty (7th June). Why not come along and see if you can meet him...?!  At the moment we're trying to keep him away from all the Creme Eggs at the Cadbury Factory next door (he thinks they're his babies - bless!)

Keep an eye out for Eric on our website cityknits.co.uk - Whoever spots him first and e-mails his correct location to us, gets a £10 voucher to spend online!  Eric will have a new hiding place on the Website each month.
